Stitch Fix Box review

Im a bit reluctant to trying clothing boxes because I can be picky with my clothing. I also have some issue with fit because  I am tall, have hips, & a small waist, long torso lol the list goes on.  Will they really know my style if I answer a few questions and choose some pictures?

Well thanks to T-mobile for hooking me up on T-mobile Tuesdays ( if you are a T-mobile customer , download the app for goodies!) with a $25 credit to use. I thought why not?

You can get a $25 credit too if you use my link ( I get credit as well) win win.

Stitch Fix Box

When you sign up you answer questions about your style , there are also photos of styles to choose from , & questions about your sizing,  so the stylist can choose what is best from the results & have them personalized.

It was a simple process.

You are charged a $20 styling fee which can be put towards an item in your box.

You have 3 days to decide what you want and don’t. There is a prepaid mailer in your box to return the items you don’t want. You only pay for what you keep.

My box came and I was excited to see what was inside. There was 5 items.

  • 2 tops
  • shorts
  • dress
  • necklace

They also send a price list & a sheet showing how you can style the pieces.

One of my favorites from the box is this Pixley Crissie dress $68

I love the scallop detail on the neckline , the fit, color, and back.

I didn’t like that it had snap closures in the back. I do have long arms but a pain to do.

Project Social T Natassia Mesh Trim Knit Top $40

STS Blue Eleonora Distressed Fray Hem Denim Shorts $38

The top was really comfortable and liked the mesh detail. It was so soft. It was a bit pricey for what it is though.

The shorts were also comfortable and a nice length.  A size smaller would have been better , when I checked their site they were out of the smaller size.

When I saw this print on this Renee C Jayani Halter top ($48) I wasn’t sure but when I tried it on I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t care for the fit of it though. I prefer it to be more fitted or flowy.

StitchFix Halter

Last piece was an accessory . Bay to Baubles Sutara Filigree Circle Pendant $28

I liked the design but a bit too long for me.

StitchFix necklace

Overall , the items they picked are something I’d try on or stop and look at ….maybe minus the halter for the top but that’s what is great about these boxes. Trying something you might not.  The prices are a little high, for me anyway . I’m a bargain shopper so I know I could find similar pieces at places like Marshalls/TJ Maxx . I also wish they gave at least a week to think about it vs the 3 days. Especially since I just moved and am on a strict budget right now.

Have you tried Stitch Fix before? How did you like it?

Made in New York fashion presentation sponsored by Cottonelle

Last month I was invited to a Summer Lounge event by Crowdtap/Cottonelle but there was some scheduling confusion and didn’t end up going.

So when this invite came up on Crowdtap , I was pretty excited and applied immediately.

The fashion show was hosted by Young & Able. They are a retail platform for emerging designers and brands. They are primarily an online retail site but do events like Made in New York so the designers can showcase their work.

I headed to The Carlton Hotel where the fashion presentation was being held .

When I walked down the stairs I took off my sunglasses and my eyes were still adjusting when I looked over I recognized someone and they looked at me too. It was an old pal Paola ,that I worked with years back when I was a model (she is a make up artist) . She asked if I was walking in the fashion show but told her this time I’m watching. She was there with her fiancé Jason (fashion photographer) who I worked with too.
They were taking portraits for the Share More LOVE project.

It was so nice to see them , it’s been a long time . Plus it was nice to talk to people I knew since I went to the event solo.

After chatting with them for a bit I headed to the bathroom to freshen up since it was muggy and hot outside .
I had no problem finding it .

The bathroom was stocked with cottonelle toilet paper and flushable wipes. I brought some in my purse in case I got all sweaty before the event because I knew it would be muggy.

On the bathroom mirrors there were stickers so of course I had to take a few photos .

After I was done doing my business, freshening up , & taking photos on the bathroom the refreshments & snacks were ready so I headed over that way.

Fruit , cheese , crackers , popcorn, iced herbal tea, chocolate, water, sparkling wine , sparkling water.

Here is a variety of Belvoir fruit farms organic drinks and Volvoc water.
I grabbed an organic elderflower lemonade. Delicious and refreshing!

La Marca Prosecco Wine

Also grabbed a chocolate bar for later .

I’m not that much of a tea drinker but the infusion iced herbal tea ( tried the peach, vervain, lemon) was good. I’m actually drinking it now while writing this blog post ( much better cold). They just put it in the ice so it was warm that’s when I decided to put it in my bag and grab the sparkling wine.

Now the fashion show

There were 4 designers Kung Katherine , Kai New York, Luba Gnasevych, and Mimi New York.

My favorites were Kung Katherine (beginning of video) and Mimi New York (end of video). I could see myself wearing Kung Katherine and if I ever had a fancy party to go to I would love to wear Mimi New York couture dresses.

How cool is the back of Mimi New York business card ?

After the fashion show Morgan James sang .. Amazing voice!

Things were dwindling down so I grabbed my gift bag and headed home.

I’m sure you want to know the goodies that were in my bag right?

•MD Complete by Brian Zelickson skin clearing healthy skin accelerator .
•Pocket acne aid bullet
•Zoya rocha nail polish
•Morgan James Hunter CD
•Carlton Hotel hand sanitizer spray
•Cottonelle flushable wipes
•Justin’s organic peanut butter cups
•2 months free to nextissue
•bigsexyhair powder play

Tried the Zoya nail polish today, nice summer color.

I’m happy I was able to attend , I enjoyed myself. Hope Crowdtap has more events like this that I can attend. Especially when I’m living in the city.

Love these windows at Grand Central . Took this while waiting for my train.

·I was not financially compensated for this post.

H&M- $1 dress deal

I’ve talked about it before but if you haven’t already download the Wrapp app!

For Black Friday if you sent your friends a $12 H&M card you got one in return.

It was going to expire today so I had to go and see if I could find anything.

I ended up finding this cute polka dot jersey dress.

It was originally $12.95 which is already great but I had $12 off and with tax made it $1.01!

I love it because I can wear it with tights now, and bare legs in spring. I love getting dresses I can wear year round, more to wear!

I probably could have bought an accessory too because I had 20% off but I was started to feel faint and needed to get food asap.

So go subscribe to their mailing list get 20% coupon off one item

or text hm to 40679 for 10% of your purchase

With the holidays they have great deals $3/$5/$7/$10 racks!

Clothes- DIY Tips & Tricks

I found these on pinterest.

Such clever ideas. Did your shirt shrink or get too tight??

Cut the sides and add some cool crochet trim .

Check out her site here. She has other creative ways to change up your clothes to make them new again.

Shorts too tight or too short? Add some lacy /crochet trim.

Arms too tight on a shirt or want to make it a bit more girly? Add some lace.

Such great ideas, why have I never thought of this?

Do you have any ways to make your old clothes look new again?

H&M extreme savings

I recently came across the app Wrapp.
You can send your friends free and paid gift cards. Sometimes they have really good ones you can send for free. Also like their Facebook page to snag a gift card.

I ended up getting $36 for free to spend.
They had skinny jeans priced at $9.95
They also have a good sale going on that was going on before Christmas.
I snagged 3 pairs of skinny jeans , ring ,necklace , and top for….drum roll please ….$10.60

I don’t really go for big rings but really loved the colors and how shiny it is. “Every time I come around your city, bling bling!”

Extreme Couponing- Clothes Edition

Ok so this week I’ve made two trips to the mall and they were the best trips EVER!!

On Wednesday I went to the mall with my little cousin, aunt, & friend.

As you can see in a previous post I am a member of crowdtap . I was chosen for an Old Navy Style Council/ Sample & Share for sweaters. I shared my coupon for a free sweater with my aunt. We both got sweaters for $39.95. So between both of us we saved $80. YAY.

( click photo to see sweater we chose)

We also when to JCPenney ( clicked for details) because I went there after Thanksgiving and got free buttons. You just ask any employees if you can have some buttons. They are really cute but the important thing on them is the codes. You can win great prizes , I received $35 in gift certificates ( 3 $10 & 1- $5).

I found this cute top.. wasn’t sure how much it was but knew it would be under $10 with my gift certificate. It ended up being completely free! ( originally $15)

It fit great and I liked the way the fabric felt. I also liked the little sequin triangle in the front.

My friend Shawn found a sweater he really liked so I gave him two of my gift certificates.

Original cost $45- on sale $20 – with gift certificates FREE!

My aunt found a hat ( no picture but it was originally $15 on sale for $7 plus my $5 gift certificate = $2!! )

receipts , with some of the buttons 🙂

Now last night was amazing. At first I wasn’t even going to go to the mall but I was bored and decided why not. I had $70 worth of gift certificates now.

Faux leather jacket- $35

I have super long arms which makes jackets and sweaters a tough one to find but this one was perfect and it has a detachable hood. awesome!! 😀

I saw this on my last trip but didnt want to try it on, I love how it fit. I have trouble because I have a small waist and fit nicely.

Turquoise jacket : $30

Long Sleeve top.. how cute is this ? It was originally $15- was $10 =FREE

Will wear for Christmas eve/Christmas!

Ok I look weird in this pic but whatever. This dress fit me so freakin well. I was wasting time waiting for my friend so I went to the dress section, I did a quick glance at the racks, happened to spot this one. Looked at tag , was my size and only $20 whaaaat had to try it on glad I did.

Nothing special here just skinny jeans, great fit & price $20  Brand: A.N.A

Grand Total:: $102 – $70 = $ 32!!! OMG!! I was excited & in shock.

Need more buttons!!

The event ends at the end of the month- what am I going to do after. Im addicted.

I mean this combines things I love. Free clothes, cheap clothes, new clothes, fashion, savings!!

I wandered over to the free people website and saw this outfit.

I really like it. Its fun and has a classic look to it.

Creative nail art work.

Here are some whimsical & color illustrations I came across. I found her by reading dailycandy.

Miss Capricho

The art below is done by Vernice Holmes. Not only is she an artist but also a designer ( how I met her) and also incorporates the drawing into her designs.

I really love this drawing . Here is her website if you’d like to check her out 🙂

Not sure who painted this but its pretty neat.

How can you not like cute cartoon sweets?

I like those round things on the wall. Pretty cool way to add color, art & texture to a room.

I found this photo on Scout design nyc. I like the style and the since purple is my favorite color, I’m digging the wall and chair.

Not sure where I found this but thought it was cool.

Thought this clock was pretty cool. This one you can definitely do it yourself. Find 13 squares or shapes you want , either paint or get sticker #’s and buy a clock hand. 🙂
