Formula X – The System XCEL & Delete All review

I love doing my nails. I probably have 100 bottles of nail polish. Whether Im doing a solid color or nail art I’m always looking to try new formulas & colors.

I was sent Foruma X The System XCEL & Delete All polish remover to try. You can find these products at Sephora in store or online.

Formula X The System XCEL DELETE ALL

The System XCEL:

Retails for $32

It comes in a cute little box that folds into a cube. There is an empty spot for your color polish that you can choose. I received TGIF, which is a pretty pink coral color. You are supposed to get 10 day wear, chip resistant color, & gel-like shine.

This system gives you a gel like manicure without the fuss with just 4 easy steps.

  • Cleanse: Removes oils as it conditions to give you nails a clean slate. It dried instantly.
  • Prime: Made with keratin & advanced bonding agents this step helps the color take hold stronger & longer
  • Color: self explanatory , add the color you want to you nails
  • Shine: Acrylic fortified top coat that seal in the color and give your nails the gel-like finish.

My experience/ Thoughts:

I liked how easy The System was easy to add while doing my nails. Each step dried quickly, so it didn’t add a lot more time when I did my nails.

Processed with Snapseed.

The color I did have an issue with. It is a thicker formula so it wasn’t so easy to work with. It also had lines in it so I did 2 coats to get an even smooth coverage, even though coat one was opaque. I had to do a little more extra clean up because the brush wasn’t as wide & not as flexible, plus the formula being thick. I am not sure if all colors are like this or just this one.

The first time I did my nails I realized cracking & chipping within 3-4 days. I was bummed because I was expecting it to be much longer. I thought maybe its because my nails are long. Even though they are strong they still bend while I use them which probably cause the cracking. I used the Delete All polish remover & started over after cutting my nails in half.

Formula X Chipping

This time I had more of a problem using the TFIF color. It wasn’t cooperating and staying smooth or I would smudge it. Oi! I finally got it on though. This time it lasted 5-6 days before I saw cracking & a little chipping. I guess I just use my nail a lot.

My favorite step was the top coat. The brush was wide and flexible and in pretty much one coat you were good to go. It left my nails so shiny & smooth.I loved it. I would definitely buy this in the future.

DELETE ALL

Retails $15

DELETE ALL Formula X

I was surprised an amazed with DELETE ALL polish remover. It took seconds and my polish was off. This has a pre-soaked sponge with 5 holes that you insert your fingers in. You wiggle them around for about 15 seconds and take them out tada , you nails are clean.  No need to worry about spilling, no rubbing, and the smell doesn’t linger as long as bottled polish remover. I haven’t tried it yet but  I heard it is even good at taking of the dreaded glitter polish. Just make sure to add some lotion, creme to you nails after using  this.

*Tip someone told me when its dried out add your own polish remover to get more use out of it.

Overall it was a good experience. I don’t really cleanse my nails with anything except maybe washing them before applying polish, so that was a nice step. I wish my manicure did last the 10 days though. I am going to try with other polishes I have and see how it works out.  I loved the Shine top coat , my favorite step and formula. I would buy that again because that completed the nails and did look salon worthy . Delete All polish remover is fantastic & cut taking polish off instantly. Glad I had a chance to try it. Makes taking polish off so much easier.

I received these products as a gift from Formula X, all opinions are my own.

Curel Hydra Therapy Moisturizer review

I recently tried Curel Hydra Therapy wet skin moisturizer.

curel

So whats the deal?

After showering or bathing you apply this Curel Hydra Therapy to your wet skin. No need to rinse off or wait for it to dry after applying it. Just towel dry as normal and then get dressed.

Why do you put it on wet skin?

After showering your pores are open, providing an easy pathway for moisture into you skin. The Advanced Ceramide Complex penetrates deeply into your skin’s surface bring moisture to the source of dryness. It absorbs immediately.

Why Ceramides?

These are naturally present in healthy skin. They are vital building blocks to maintaining skin’s moisture barrier. When lost, skin becomes damaged & dry. Curel ceramide complex penetrates & replenishes skin’s ceramide levels and repairs the moisture barrier.

Curel Hydra Therapy

My thoughts

I put the bottle in the shower so I wouldn’t forget.  I usually put lotion on my skin when I get out of the shower so I am used to this step. Except this time I am wet while I apply. Once I turned off the water , I added some lotion to my hands and started from my legs and worked my way up. A little product goes a long way and I was surprised. When I was done I dried off and got dressed. My skin didn’t feel tacky, sticky, or greasy. My skin was left smooth, touchable, hydrated, and soft.  I liked the results but I don’t know if I really care for the process. I am always cold so when I get out of the shower I’m like ‘Where is my towel?’ I usually light towel dry off and then add my lotion. Since Cureal hydra therapy you have to be wet for it to ‘activate’ I don’t really care for that part. For me I don’t think its something I would work into my normal routine, even though I liked how it left my skin.

Have you heard or tried Curel Hydra Therapy yet?

L’oreal Paris Pure-Clay Mud Mask review

Lately I’ve been becoming more aware of L’oreal skincare products.  One of their newest products is their Pure-Clay Masks. I love mud masks , it’s like a spa day at home. Transform you skin in 10 minutes.

LorealClayMasks

Each mask has 3 mineral clays and an enhanced- sourced ingredient tailored for ideal absorption time. They are sourced from Mountains in Morocco, the South of England, and the USA.

Mineral Clays:

  • Kaolinite is a soft mineral which absorbs unwanted impurities to remove excess shine without stripping away natural oils
  • Montmorillonite comes from igneous rocks, is soft to the touch, swells when it comes into contact with water and is renowned for its purifying and rebalancing properties
  • Ghassoul is gathered from volcanic regions of Morroco where it’s been used by women in face masks and compresses for years

Added ingredient

LorealClayIngredients

  • Eucalyptus known for possessing purifying and soothing actions beneficial for women with oily skin
  • Charcoal acts like a magnet on the skin to draw out impurities
  • Red Algae nutritious in sugars that help to strengthen the skin. Extraordinarily fine natural volcanic particles act as a naturally effective exfoliant to gently remove dead skin cells

lorealclays

The texture of the clay is creamy and goes on smoothly. There is no overpowering scent & they dry pretty evenly. Some are more “perfumey” than others. These were also easy to take off with warm water.

These retail for about $9.99 each which is pretty good. I’ve even heard a few people saw these are as good as glam glow . I’ve only used samples of that brand so  I can’t really compare in my own experience. For best results use these 2-3 times a week.

P.S Don’t want to get your fingers all dirty witd the clay. You can do this with any mask. Get a fan art brush ( Walmart/Target/Craft store) and use it just for your masks. Make sure to clean them after each use.

Detox & Brighten

Skin concern: Dull & Tired skin

Charcoal

Went on smoothly and easy to apply over my face. This one was my favorite. As it dries you can see where you are oily . It is sucking all the impurities out of you skin.  I took warm water and took off the mud mask. My face looked clean , refreshed, & did look a little bright. This one is my favorite out of the 3 I tried.

Exfoliate & Refine

Skin concern: Rough & Clogged skin

This one is my next favorite. It looks like the  mud you see people applying to themselves when they go to one of those exotic locations. This clay does have small particles which help exfoliate. This one is sort of like a 2-in-1 mask. This one also doesn’t dry completely. I like rubbing it on in circular motion to exfoliate. I let it sit for about 10 minutes and wash it off.  I rub it off in circular motions are well to exfoliate. The particles in the clay weren’t harsh on the skin and very gentle. My skin felt great afterwards.

Mattify & Purify

Skin concern: Oily & Shiny skin

lorealpurifymask

This one for me is best when I multi-mask or area/spot treatment. This one dried really hard and made my skin feel tight while it was on.  It also stung a little bit when I first put it on for 10-20 seconds but not enough for me to wash it off.  When I took it off it did have a cooling sensation and my skin looked  & felt really clean. My skin did feel a little dry . I will use this for a spot treatment instead of my whole face ( t-zone, cheeks, chin, nose) This would probably be better for someone who has an oilier complexion and someone who doesn’t have sensitive skin.

Multi-masking :

Multimask Loreal

Do you or have you done a multi mask? It’s applying a few different products to your face to help your problem areas. Your skin might be oily in your T zone but have dry cheeks.

Chicken , Rice, & Veggies one pot meal

This was a comfort meal for me. When I was younger , my mom would make chicken, rice, veggies. I topped my chicken with gravy but then I would just mix it up after I cut my chicken into bite size pieces.

So my then my mom started making it just like that. This meal sort of reminds me of that.

This hit the spot and with only a few ingredients dinner will be done in no time. Feel free to add more veggies

chicken & rice

Ingredients:

  • 1lb chicken ( I used boneless skinless tenders) cut into bite size pieces
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 carrots, diced
  • medium head of broccoli, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cup of rice
  • 2 cups of chicken stock ( makes this very flavorful) or water
  • salt
  • pepper

Heat oil in pan . Once hot, add chicken . Add salt & pepper.

Sautee for about 7-8 minutes

Add onion to put, sautee for 3 minutes

Add carrots to put, turn heat to low.

Add garlic ,& broth ( or water)

Add rice to the pot, no need to stir it in just make sure its covered by the liquid.

Add broccoli on top

Cover the pot for 30 minutes & let it simmer. Check on it , add more liquid if needed.

When there is no more liquid ( rice is cooked) Its done.

Serve in a bowl & enjoy.

*For mine I used Zatarain’s broccoli rice mix and forgot to measure it. I realized it was a little short so I added quinoa to the pot.

** Tip: Want a quick soup?  This is perfect. Add the olive oil, then chicken ( salt & pepper). Add onion, celery, carrots, garlic, & chicken broth.Add egg noodles and you have a quick yummy soup.

What’s For Dinner: Tuscan Chicken

Here is another one pot meal for you. This meal takes about 30-45 minutes including prep time. I know school is in or almost back in session and this meal would be perfect to fit in while getting back in the groove of things.

This was delicious , healthy, & filling.

I found this recipe on The Wanderlust Kitchen

Tuscan Chicken

What you need:

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil, divided
  • 1 lb. chicken breast tenderloins
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 oz. mushrooms, sliced
  • 2/3 c. sundried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 (15 oz) can Cannelini Beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 (15 oz) cans fire roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Parsley for garnish

I didn’t have sundried tomatoes but I did use Amore Sundried tomato paste because I had a coupon for a free product. I found  it by the tomato sauce. They have different kinds os pastes( garlic, tomato, ect)

I didn’t add parsley & I also made mini bow tie pasta and topped this mix on top. I cooked the pasta first then cooked the chicken ( still one pot meal for me!)

Directions:

Brown the chicken. Add some olive oil to the pan. Season the chicken with salt & pepper. Add chicken to pan for about 3 minutes each side.

Remove chicken and put on plate, put to the side. Add olive oil to the pan. Add sliced mushrooms in a single layer until golden brown on each side. Do multiple batches if needed.

Add onion , sautee for a few minutes. Add garlic ( & sundried tomatoes if you are using them) , sautee for 2 minutes.  (before I added the other ingredients I add the sundried tomato paste and stirred together for 1 minute)

Add fire roasted tomatoes, beans, seasonings , & sugar. Stir together

Add chicken, spoon the sauce mixture on top. Cover for 10 minutes. Add mushrooms and serve.

I topped the mixture over the bow tie pasta & sprinkled with parmesan cheese.
