Freebie Mail Call +Venus &Olay Sugarberry Razor Review

10/08/13

Ok so I finally used the Venus razor.

I like that the razor blade is easy to put on and has 5 blades for a close shave.

The handle fits perfectly in my hand so it is easy to maneuver. I did feel the blade moved too much and I might cut myself but I didn’t *phew!*

When I started shaving my legs I realized that there was a lather from the moisturizing bars on the top & bottom of the head that left my legs, arms & underarms soft and smooth. The sugarberry scent was so nice, not powerful . It is a “happy” scent, if that makes sense.

Definitely a great razor , I didn’t even use shaving cream which takes out that extra step of shaving making it faster and easier!

Pumpkin Pie Bites

Fall is a few days away… soon it will be October/November and the first thing that comes to mind is pumpkin pie.

I make these desserts for Halloween & Thanksgiving.

Found recipe here : Bakerella Pumpkin Pie Bites

2 refrigerated ready-to roll pie crusts

8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature

1/2 cup sugar

1 cup canned pumpkin

3 eggs ( one will be to put on edges)

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice  (mixture of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and allspice) * I didn’t add ginger

Circle ( 3 to 3 3/4 inches) or Pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter * I  don’t have cookie cutters so I used a 3 inch measuring cup

-Optional-

1/2 cup chocolate morsels

vegetable oil

re-sealable plastic bags

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

You will need to roll the dough thinner than it comes out of the box.

Use circle cookie cutter ( or if you can use a pumpkin one if you have it)

Press dough shapes into a 24 cup mini muffin tray, press scraps in to make stems.

Apply egg whites from one egg to the top edges of each pie.

Mix cream cheese, sugar, canned pumpkin, remaining 2 eggs, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice together until thoroughly combined.

Spoon mixture into each pie crust.

Bake for 12-15 minutes.

Remove pies to cool.

Makes 24 pies.

Keep refrigerated.

To decorate, melt chocolate in a heat-proof bowl in the microwave on medium. Heat in 30 second intervals, stirring in between until melted. Add a little vegetable oil to make the chocolate more fluid. Transfer to a re-sealable plastic bag and cut the corner off. Drizzle or draw faces on pies.

*I don’t have a microwave so I put chocolate in a metal bowl ( you can also use glass) on top of a pot.

Don’t have water touching bowl. Stir constantly with whisk until chocolate is melted .Scoop  to ziplock bag. Cut small hole at corner.

Easy beef stir fry/fajita bowl

20130901-124451.jpg

I came across this Fast Fajita Salad recipe on pinterest.

I didn’t really feel like a salad so ended up using rice.

Ingredients I used:

About 1lb of steak ( I bought it already in strips)

lime

3-4 garlic cloves- minced

chili powder

salt& pepper

1/2 large onion

medium bell pepper

olive oil

1 can black beans ( drained)

rice

chicken stock

1- Place beef strips , lime ( juice if half) , 2-3 cloves of garlic, 1-2 teaspoons of chili powder, splash of olive oil and let it sit and marinate.

2: Cook rice with chicken broth instead of water (to give more flavor)

3: Cut up bell pepper, onion and 1 clove of garlic

4: Heat up olive oil in pan. Add pepper, onion, garlic for 6-10 minutes ( half way through- add beans)

5: Remove veggies from pan

6: I let the pot sit for a minute to get hot again, then add beef and marinade . Cook for about 3 minutes ( depending how thick you cut your slices of beef/how you like yours cooked)

7: Add Onion, pepper, bean mixture to beef

8: place rice in bowl and top with beef mixture

9: enjoy 🙂

I was going to add avocado but everyone at the store were too hard.

Next time I will add another color of pepper.

It was ok. I was hungry while making it then when it was done I only had a small bowl ( pictured above) It was good. Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it.

I didn’t eat much of this dish , I ended up getting sick and the thought of any kind of food except rice made me nauseous.

My friend Shawn really liked it though and he is a good guinea pig when I cook.
