Product Review : Dr Oetker Ristorante Spinaci Frozen Pizza

I was excited when I got my kit to try this pizza. I’ve seen the package before when I was looking at frozen pizzas but never bought it or really looked at it. Though the pictures of pizza on the boxes do look good. I’ve been cooking all week and today I really didn’t feel like prepping , cutting, stirring ect. So I took my coupon for a free pizza and off I went. ( They were $5.59) At the Stop & Shop I went to they had 3 choices : Spinaci, Mozzarella, Pizza Quattro Formaggi ( 4 cheese).

I choose Spinach.

It was the usual preheat oven ( in this case to 425) and bake 12-14 minutes.

When I opened the box the pizza was on the small side but a serving size is one third. I’m not going to lie, I ate half of the pizza with my friend & it did fill me up.

I put it in for 13 minutes, closer to it being done I could smell the pizza . When I took it out it had nice golden brown edges. As I sliced into it the nice aroma filled the air. So how’d it taste? Delicious!

It is a thin crust pizza and the crust was perfect, just enough crunch & no cardboard flavor like some frozen pizzas. The topping was flavorful & spread evenly. The spinach was soft & moist without making the pizza soggy. There was a thin layer of tomato sauce, then the spinach on top the cheese. The cheese also melted nicely and was a little golden too.

I also liked how this pizza was light and didn’t make me feel heavy or gross after eating it.

Next time I’m in the mood for fast pizza, I’d definitely get this one.

Disclosure:  I received free products to review as a BzzAgent.  The opinions in this post are 100% my own.

Favorite things around the house & Mozz Sticks take 2

I took some photos of my favorite items around my house that I wanted to share.

I like the beach and starfish, I like the way the colors go in this shelf. I bought the Buddha figurine at a flea market, I also bought a jade/emerald colored one. The little cylinder is a candle , it was $1.50 at target. I liked the embellishment on the top .

I spotted the owl at Pier 1 , it’s actually a Christmas decoration but I took off the top of it. I loved the colors on it.

Laughter is the best medicine. I spotted this at stop & shop for a buck and decided to display on the shelf. 🙂

I have that little beaded lizard above a door frame , I bought it at Busch Gardens a couple years ago.

I loooooove my chocolat wall decor. I thought it was different and its hanging in my kitchen.

The purple lamp I found at Marshalls I believe, again loved the colors and the way it looked.  I want to put it on a side table by my bed so I can put a candle in it but I still haven’t found a side table that I like and will fit.

I liked the design and color of the bottle, I bought it at Good Will for $1-2 bucks!

Loved the look of the pearl vase.

For whatever reason a couple years ago I bought a couple of clocks which it weird because my place isn’t big so now all rooms has a clock. I thought the shape was cool.

I bought those little shelves at Walmart and I painted them myself. I bought two, I wish I bought more. As you can see I use it to hold some spices above the stove.

And take 2 on those Mozzarella Sticks. It worked out much better this time. I paid better attention, I also flipped at 4 minutes instead of 5. I also think having the already battered sticks fully frozen helped too. I had them for lunch with left over  Tuscan Tomato Soup 🙂

What a week….cauliflower pizza, tomato soup, stuffed red pepper & mozzarella sticks.

The past week was not my week….first off I had only one day off within 9 days & its been dead .Then  my cell phone fell and the screen cracked 😦 I didn’t have insurance so of course there is nothing they could do. I had to go to my old blackberry phone and already miss all my apps/touch screen/ easy access to internet/ easier to read texts. I am getting a new phone though hopefully Monday!

The next thing that happened was the atm card at the bank didn’t give back my card and ate it! What a pain!!!

Anyway the past week I did make some great dinners.

First off is another tomato soup  Tuscan Tomato Soup with White Beans & Pancetta.

I thought it could use another can of beans , I had a can of Navy Beans that went well with the other beans. I only found thin sliced pancetta, it was ok ( and salty) . If using thing sliced I’d only use one slice per bowl and cut it up. I think thicker , choppedup like the recipes calls for would have been better. Next time!

Next is the Black Bean & Corn Stuffed Pepper .  I came across a picture of this dish and knew I’d use taco seasoning, when I read the recipe I’m glad I decided that because I don’t care for cumin that much/cayenne pepper .It was reallllly good. I served it with cous cous and 2 garlic & herb chicken.

I also made Cauliflower pizza. No.. not cauliflower on pizza. Pizza made of cauliflower. When I came across and started making this one. I wasn’t really sure how it would come out but I like trying new things so I gave it a go. Let me tell you, I prefer this pizza over regular pizza. Its sooooooo good. I topped mine with pizza sauce, spinach, turkey pepperoni & some mushrooms.

I came across 3 recipes, one included ricotta and since I knew the pizza might not work I didn’t want to add something like that on top.

Recipe 1

Recipe 2

I combined the herbs from both.

I used garlic, parsley, oregano, pepper, garlic salt. The one bad thing about sharing what I make is I don’t measure anything..I just put what I think it right for the dish and hope it turns out good 🙂

If you don’t have a ricer, its ok I just steamed the cauliflower and pulsed it in a food processor. Wahlah In one of the recipe links, someone even mentioned grating it on a cheese grater. Play around with it.

Here is the the mixture plopped on the baking sheet:

Spread out mixture then bake for 12-20 minutes, brush some olive oil on top to get golden brown

add your toppings then put in broiler until cheese melts: ENJOY!

Skinny Mozzarella Sticks turned into gooey cheesy flat sticks haha

I was trying to type up this post and thought I had more time and they ended up oozing out but still tasted great. I didn’t make them all and kept an eye on them and the other one turned out better ( could be they were in the freezer longer too) I’m making the rest tomorrow so we will see.

Here is what it turned into:

Even if I didn’t get this one down I’d still eat these 🙂

Yummy Tomato Soup/ Marinara Sauce

I believe I found this recipe in Shape magazine. This is how I make it.

What you need:

6 overripe tomatoes

medium onion ( yellow or red) I usually use red

2 cloves of garlic ( I have a jar that is already minced, I use about a tablespoon)

2 bay leaves

2 springs of thyme ( or a sprinkle of dry thyme)

10 black peppercorns ( or use reg pepper)

1 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of sugar

1/4 cup of olive oil

8 basil leaves ( or sprinkle with some dried)

2 cups of vegetable or chicken broth

Preheat oven to 375.

In a large roasting pan or cookie sheet add tomatoes, onion, garlic, bay leaves, thyme, sugar, pepper, salt. & oil.

Put in oven and roast for 45 minutes or until tomatoes are caramelized. Place roasting pan on top of stove add basil and broth. Bring to a simmer and turn off. Mine didn’t caramelize that well because the tomatoes I used had lots of pulp/juices. It still comes out great though!

Pour into blender & puree. ( Be careful pouring, I usually take a spatula or spoon and place the chunks in the blender first, to avoid splatter )

This batch made about 4 cups. Sooo good.

Tips::

Most grocery stores have a “rot shelf” , its the best for this recipe since it calls for overripe tomatoes.

For the most part the veggies or fruit I’ve found on there had nothing wrong with them.

I took 2 tomatoes out before taking a photo but bought all 6 tomatoes for $1.71

The recipe in the mag called for jalapeno, so feel free to add that to the mix.

You can also add less broth to make it thicker to use as a marinara sauce.

Along with this I made these yummy Spinach & Sausage Pinwheels ( I used chicken sausage)

Enjoy. If you make these dishes, let me know how it turned out 🙂

This & That

Hello! Been awhile.

So lets see…..lets talk about food first. I looooove Guacamole. It hasn’t always been that way but a couple years ago when doing a promotion for a beauty product, I walked around on my break at Costco. One person was sampling Wholly Guacamole, I’ve never had it before and now I’m  a fan. You should go like their facebook page because they post coupons often.

About 2 weeks ago Stop & Shop had guacamole on sale and I had two coupons that would make the 100 cal packs about $1.50 or somewhere near there..great deal considering they are normally $5+. Well, I went to open them to put them away and one pack opened and leaked everywhere. Looked pretty gross. I emailed them about it and not only did they send me a coupon for a free Wholly product but a note, chip clip, bracelet, pen, avocado stress ball thing?, & three pamphlets booklets ( with recipes, ways guacamole is used coast to coast, little tips, ect).

I wasn’t expecting any of that and that just makes me a super fan!

A year ago I signed up on a website to try new products & give opinions. I never really got anything or got to anything fast enough until now.

I’n now BzzAgent and my first duty is to try Ristorante Pizza. Last time I was looking for a frozen pizza I do remember seeing this brand. The packaging and pizza on it did look good but I was looking for a particular one. So it’s good I can try it ( for free)  and see how it is , perhaps it will be my new favorite. Now to decide if I want to try the mozzarella or spinach first 🙂

The kit came with 2 free coupons, a few magnetic notepads, coupons for $1.50 off to share.

I  haven’t posted any recipes. I need to start taking photos when I make something. I mentioned a site before , Pinterest. It’s the best for finding recipes. I’ve made 12 recipes from there so far and I’m making one as we speak. Some of my favorites have been ; Healthy Cheesy Chicken & Rice Bake Zucchini Minestrone Soup, Spinach & Bacon Stuffed Mushrooms, Turkey Zucchini Burgers, Quinoa “fried rice” ( I added chicken) , & Veggie Medley.

For the veggie medley:

Put Potatoes, zucchini, baby carrots, sweet potatoes, whole garlic cloves, onions on a baking sheet  at 350 for 45 minutes. Dust with parmesan for the last 10 minutes.

It called for tomatoes but I didn’t have any and next time I think I will add mushrooms. Was a good side for chicken 🙂

For the most part all the recipes I’ve found and made have come out good. Next time I will tweak a few things on some but so far so good!

Now to my fashion finds!

Yesterday I went to Target or you want to feel fancy tar* jay. I wanted to get another pair of these skinny jeans. Of course, didn’t find them but did walk out with some cute things.

Can you guess how much this pack was? …… $4.99 for all 3 pairs. The main reason I got them was for the frogs and the blue studs are nice too. Not sure what I will do with the hoops, not a fan of them.

Next I saw this top. The bird print looks like it will be popular this spring/summer season. At the boutique I work at we have a cardigan coming in with bird print at first I was like huh.. but its grown on me. I really like this color and that it sheer . I always get hot and cold fast so this one if perfect for me.

Now shoes:

For the most part I live in Sandals/ Boots/ High Heels. Only time I wear ” sneakers” is when I work out.

I turned the corner and something shiny caught my eye and spotted these babies. They were 38.99 but guess they were on sale? b/c they rang up as 34.99 yippie

I spotted these a few months ago but couldn’t find my size and they were on sale too! ( was $34 now $24) Now I have to figure out what I will wear them with.

Make up!

Today when I came home from work  I had a pretty decent box waiting for me at my doorstep.

OOOooh What could it be. I saw cosmetics on the shipping label but still no idea.

I open it up and see a really cute packaging.

It’s free make up from NYX cosmetics.

They sent me :

5 color eye shadow palette ( good for a smoky eye) <~ so wanted this

Bronzer/Blush Combo

Lip Cream

Liquid Liner

Mascara

I can’t  wait to use it and see how it works out.

Side note: I made a Amy’s Cheddar Cheese Burrito for dinner… was good. I was expecting  not to like it 🙂

DIY Photo Magnets

For the most part, most people have ended up with some sort of magnet they didn’t want but just put on the fridge. Either from a pizza place, insurance company, was given to you for free, whatever.

Well I decided to stick some photos on them to make them pretty. As you can see here I had a big magnet from 2010 from a pizza place.

The best part is it only takes minutes to do, I did this one while my facial mask was drying 🙂

Supplies needed:

Magnet

Photo

Glue Stick

Scissors

Pencil

Take your magnet and photo. Depending on shape of your magnet you can place the photo over magnet or magnet over photo and trace.

Cut the photo out.

Place glue on the back of photo, place it on the magnet.

Trim edges if necessary.

If you want you can place it under something heavy for an hour or so.

Stick to fridge.

Wahlah now you have a photo magnet 🙂

Enjoy
